Description

Spirits Alive is hosting a unique tour opportunity at historic Eastern Cemetery! Join guide Ron Romano on a walk among the tombs of the Eastern Cemetery, culminating in a descent below ground to experience the city’s first “Receiving Tomb.” Not open to the public until now, it was constructed in 1849 and in use for about 40 years. On this special tour, you’ll learn about the construction of the tombs of Eastern Cemetery and see first-hand the historic underground winter storage space where up to 80 bodies could be kept until spring thaws would allow proper—and final—burial.

Reservations are required for this special tour, and space is limited to 10 per group.

Tickets are $10 per person

Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

If you are not okay with dark, enclosed spaces, think twice before reserving this tour!

If it’s a rainy day, the rain date for the event is Sunday, May 24, 2015.
